Nailsea Wharf
Following a decision to begin on a new OO gauge project, work started mid 2015 to develop a shunting layout utilising a spare baseboard from one of our club members’ own projects and a partially started layout from another club member. The two boards were joined together to make a total length of 9 feet and a track plan drawn up that incorporated existing trackwork already attached to one of the boards.

Part of the layout after construction began. The existing trackwork on this part of the layout has been retained, with just a few minor adjustments.
Represented by the layout is a fictional industrial complex with a small shunting yard to the right. The general design is based on a Timesaver Shunting Puzzle on the left with an Inglenook Shunting Puzzle on the right.
Traffic enters the complex from the main line behind the buildings in the centre, from there the wagons are shunted to their allocated locations around the yard. Finally the wagons are placed into their respective positions in the shunting yard ready to be sent on their way.
