Kit Building Evening

Wednesday 3rd September 2014

This Tuesday’s meeting was a kit building evening. Anyone that wanted to bring a plastic kit to build could do so and discuss what they were working on and the methods they use to construct them. This turned out to be a busy evening at the club with a number of people bringing kits to build in a range of scales from N Gauge to O Gauge. A small selection of photos from the evening are shown below.

The first picture below shows one of the club members constructing a couple of N Gauge wagons. Even in the small size of N Gauge, details such as the vacuum brake cylinders mounted below the chassis are included in the kits being constructed here.

This next picture shows the progress of a CCT kit in OO Gauge being constructed by another of the members of the club. At this stage, much of the basic construction is complete, with detailing still to be added from the parts in the kit once the roof and wheels have been fitted.

For the final picture in this club update, we have the construction of some EM Scale wagons. Although they look the same size as OO Gauge models, these run on a more accurate to scale track gauge, and these ones even have working 3 link couplings like the real thing.

Also of note at this meeting, amongst all the kit building and conversation, there was more progress made to the club’s Gauge 1 test track with track laying continuing during the evening.
