Five Days Until Upcoming Annual Exhibition 2017

Monday 6th March 2017

At our recent Club meetings, we have seen a little preview of what Dave plans for this years Gauge 1 display at our annual exhibition. In previous shows, the Gauge 1 model display has consisted of a single length of track or two. This year Dave is planning to include some point work in the track setup to allow more operational interest, so he needed to get some points ready. The photo below shows Dave soldering a microswitch that sits in between the point blades at sleeper level and is triggered by the movement of the tie bar. This changes the polarity of the frog on the point to keep power flowing through the rails to the locomotive.

Dave had also brought along a Gauge 1 German locomotive which is pictured below. This is a DB Class 78, one of 534 built between 1912 and 1927 for the Prussian state railways as Class T 18s. More than 400 of these passed into Deutsche Bundesbahn ownership as depicted by the model.

We look forward to seeing what Dave brings along to the show, as well as all the other exhibitors and their models.
