January 2017 Update
Monday 30th January 2017
Ths month has seen the usual mix of activites, although instead of our talk evening, we had a DVD show. This started with a program about the Weston, Clevedon and Portishead Light Railway, construction of which began 130 years ago in 1887. Following this was a program about Dr Beeching’s Reshaping of British Railways 50 years on.
Modelling evenings have continued to see a variety of aspects of model making going on, with soldering work continuing on Nailsea Wharf as well as modification work being done to the club’s Gauge 1 and O Gauge test track which proceeding nicely.
The first running evening of the year demonstrated a few recent acquisitions since before the Christmas break and featured two Hornby Pecketts, an LMS Streamlined Coronation Class, a Heljan 1366 Pannier Tank, a Dapol Southern Railway Schools Class and a CJM Class 89 amongst others. A few of these are pictured below, starting with the N gauge Schools Class ‘Merchant Taylors’ hauling a rake of Maunsell coaches.
Shown below is the N gauge Class 89, 89001 ‘Avocet’, in Intercity Livery produced by CJM Models.
And finally, pictured below are two OO gauge Hornby Peckett W4 0-4-0 Saddle tank locos which were released at the end of December last year.
