July 2016 Update
Friday 8th July 2016
This weeks meeting, being the first Tuesday of the month, was a talk evening and featured a guest speaker. We were joined by Jon Godden, Area Operations Manager from the Great Western Railway (formerly First Great Western).
First, Jon gave a talk about One-Zulu-48, Plymouth to Bristol non stop on May 10th 2014, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1Z48 ‘Great Western High Speed Railtour’ which ran on May 9th 1964. Following on from this, the club members present heard about when the Great Western Society’s Steam Railmotor operated on the Looe Branch in Cornwall during Autumn of 2012. Aswell as a slideshow of photos from the events, there were a number of annecdotes from the occasions which gave an enjoyable evening.
Many thanks to Jon for giving up his time to visit us at the Nailsea and District Model Railway Club.
