Doug Richards’ 3mm scale layout, Fourtee Colliery:
It is a portable layout and only measures 40″ x 12″ and was made in response to a challenge issued by the 3mm Society in 2005 which was it’s 40th.Anniversary. I am a 3mm Society member.
The only rules were that it must be a working model within the confines of the measurements already stated.
Trackwork is a mix of the the old GEM points and society flexi track. Loco’s and rolling stock are a mix of Tri-ang, GEM and society kits. All buildings and structures are scratch built by me.
Because of it’s small size you can literally pick it up under your arm and place on the back seat of a car. Also those people who say they do not have space for a layout should look at the layout and see what can be done in a very small space.
